As the main media sponsor, WJHL-TV in Johnson City, Tenn., helped make the 2007 Tri-Cities March for Babies a success. The walk raised $198,000 dollars for the March of Dimes to help further its goal of making sure every baby is born healthy. The station produced and aired public service announcements to inspire community members to walk for a good cause. In addition, the director of the March of Dimes was interviewed on the stationís morning show, and Sarah Diamond, WJHLís medical reporter and anchor, served as emcee for the event. "We have a long history of both corporate and personal support from the personnel of WJHL," said Suzzi Cocklin, senior community director of the Appalachia Division of the March of Dimes. "Volunteers and community involvement are the backbone of the success of the March of Dimes, and WJHL is the essential resource necessary to provide heightened visibility within our local community."
