Tennessee Broadcasters Deliver Lifeline News and Community Support (Tennessee Broadcasters)

The Tennessee Association of Broadcasters recently provided great examples of how the stateís local radio and television stations serve their communities.

Midwest Communications Media contributed 65 hours in donated airtime and raised collected $900,000 for the American Cancer Society. In Knoxville, Scripps Radio Groupís WWST-FM, WKHT-FM, WCYQ-FM and WNOX-FM raised $251,000 for the East Tennessee Childrenís Hospital.

In 2016, Nexstarís Memphis stations ABC affiliate WATN-TV, CW affiliate WLMT-TV and Fox affiliate WJKT-TV expect to air at least 5,000 hours in investigative journalism, 120,000 hours in news coverage and 100 hours in election coverage. Morris Multimediaís CBS affiliate WDEF-TV Chattanooga anticipates 200 hours in investigative journalism, 1,400 hours of local news, 200 hours in Emergency Weather coverage and 500 hours dedicated to elections.
