The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA) Foundation sponsored two debates in state-wide races. The October 19 event featured gubernatorial candidates Gov. Scott Walker and State Superintendent Tony Evers and the October 13 debate between U.S. Senate candidates Sen. Tammy Baldwin and State Senator Leah Vukmir. Baldwin and Vukmir discussed health care, marijuana legalization, immigration, tariffs and the U.S. Supreme Court. Viewers submitted questions on climate change and abortion using #wbadebate. Gray’s CBS affiliate WSAW Wausau produced the debate with panelists from Wausau stations WSAW; Midwest Communication’s WSAU-AM/FM; Quincy’s ABC affiliate WAOW; and Rockfleet Communications’ NBC affiliate WJFW. More than 80 radio and television stations aired each debate.
